Date night

Very early in advance of the event, Sophia asked me to attend the Neff School VIP dance with her, and I agreed. Then, our silly high school football team went undefeated and became the highest rated team entering the playoffs, won their first matchup, creating a game that conflicted with the dance. I would like to have Tiffani share the blame with me, but the truth is that the game took on a gathering momentum. I made the decision to not mention the dance, we quietly organized a party for the event and neglected to tell Sophia about the omitted event. After the debacle of a game (14-56), after finishing up the leftover meatballs, we told Sophie about missing her event, and my plans to make up for it by going out for dinner and attending the movie downtown. Thus, her favorite dinner (chicken with broccoli) at House of Hsu, and some popcorn and candy during a viewing of High School Musical 3 at the Sun Theater. And, I wasn't even the one that fell asleep (it was a school night).

Sophia's Surgical Narrative

A camera and microphone are installed on all modern Macintoshes, along with an application called PhotoBooth , which allows users to take photos of themselves, along with movies. Thursday after Sophia's surgery, Seamus was upstairs playing Mario Kart on the Wii , and from the back room, curiously, I could hear Sophie discussing the previous day's procedure and figured it was via PhotoBooth. Without anyone's urging she videoblogged the enclosed entry, and I tracked down the video file in her account to upload for everyone's information.

On to the story of Izzy

For the past couple of weeks we had been finally considering another dog, Otis having passed in June. Evenings found us as an easily-lampoonable suburban yuppie couple, each of us window shopping on our respective laptops on the couch. On our Sunday bicycle ride we earnestly began discussing the characteristics that we wanted: mature dogs, no puppies; a rescue from a shelter, not something for which we had to pay. But Tiffani spotted Izzy on CraigsList and all that criteria gladly went out the window. Contact with the owner was made, and we drove ourselves to Belding yesterday afternoon with the kids to see if the dog and our family would be a good, two-way fit. The owner was forced to get rid of her due to a breakup and she was sad to see her go. She's a Catahoula Leopard , of which we'd never heard , and the breed seems to have a colorful, if not completely fantastical story.
