Nick's first baseball game

Image
All activities must start with the proper warmup and instructive advice from the coaching staff. Is Nick noticeable? Playing the field, baseball-wise. Nick made the first putout by assisting in a throw to first. Also batting leadoff, Nick collected the first hit for the PureGreen -ers as well. The cheering section: Sophia's back, a McCartney kid, and Seamus. Nick on 2nd, later in the game against the reviled rivals from Red Robin . Nick now catching. Nick the backstop. Post-game wrapup, probably discussing the relative merits of root beer floats versus tin roof sundaes.

What, Easter in June?

Image
Easter for the Belknap Turners started out in Mulliken , with egg-seeking and egg strata eating at the Grandparents Walker house . Michigan Easters seem to always be a guess as to the weather, but you can usually predict that it will be a gray day with a chill. In Gary and Ginger's sunroom , Sophie is apparently nibbling something, and Cori is either dancing, or awaiting an urgent trip to the restroom. Bounty for Seamus, with Daren ready to take pictures in the background. The delight of treasure found. Considering that Tiffani usually has the camera in her hand, there's precious few photos of her on the blog, she's way underrepresented. On this occasion, I have the camera and she has the camcorder, so we get to take pictures of mom, and Poppa is riffing with Seamus in the background. After a lovely midday egg hunt and meal at the Walkers, it was off to Jack and Jenny's house for more eggs, candy, family, and food. Nick is busting open the eggs that Sophia is supplyi

Grandma & Grandpa visit Virginia

Image
Grandma was on hand for moral support when Meg went to donate her hair to Locks of Love. Are you sure? Are you really, really sure you want to cut 12" off your hair? I guess so... Hey Meg, what kind of animal is that in your hand? And all her friends said OMG! Cute! Then we woke up at 5:30 am the next morning to catch the metro so we could participate in The Race for the Cure. We were a group of about 50 among 50,000 of our best friends at the Race for the Cure. We walked as part of the Mary Kay Ward Team. Mary Kay ran the Girls on the Run program at our elementary school until she lost her battle with breast cancer. WE DID IT!

The Turner/Bebee/Walker clan visits the Michigan Capital

Image
On a blustery Friday during midwinter break, we all met at the Michigan Capital for a tour arranged by the Bebee family. We gathered in a small room on the ground floor for a brief safety and historical introduction before taking an elevator to the top floor to begin the tour. From left: Dawn Schulert, photogenic Seamus, Chris, Tiffani's sister Nicole, and Daren's stepdad Dick and mother Nancy. Half of Cori, Nick's rear, a grinning Sophie, Shyanne Bebee, and Daren holding Ian. The highest spot that visitors are allowed to see, allowing for a great view of the muses on the dome (somewhat visible at the top of the photo), and the 4 floors below. Of course, at these heights, a destination like this is a parent's nightmare, thus my boa constrictor grip on Seamus. Cori contemplating the muses on the dome's walls. A view to which we were told most visitors don't have access, this photo was taken from the catwalk that floats above the glass-ceilinged House chamber. T
