The Turner/Bebee/Walker clan visits the Michigan Capital

Image
On a blustery Friday during midwinter break, we all met at the Michigan Capital for a tour arranged by the Bebee family. We gathered in a small room on the ground floor for a brief safety and historical introduction before taking an elevator to the top floor to begin the tour. From left: Dawn Schulert, photogenic Seamus, Chris, Tiffani's sister Nicole, and Daren's stepdad Dick and mother Nancy. Half of Cori, Nick's rear, a grinning Sophie, Shyanne Bebee, and Daren holding Ian. The highest spot that visitors are allowed to see, allowing for a great view of the muses on the dome (somewhat visible at the top of the photo), and the 4 floors below. Of course, at these heights, a destination like this is a parent's nightmare, thus my boa constrictor grip on Seamus. Cori contemplating the muses on the dome's walls. A view to which we were told most visitors don't have access, this photo was taken from the catwalk that floats above the glass-ceilinged House chamber. T...

Professional Development Day: 22 January 2007

Image
The GLPS had a professional development day, and after my work was completed, we all zipped off to Fitzgerald Park for some sledding. This was back in the thick of the cold snap the midwest received, which makes the sledding noisy and fast, and we were all bundled up pretty well. Just after arriving at the park, I was interviewed by a television crew about some sewage that escaped the treatment plant located in this park, and about which I had no idea. Sadly for the mid-Michigan area, my thoughts were never broadcast, according to Tiffani. And, as is usually the case, Tiff did all the photographing and wouldn't turn over the camera, so she's not well represented in the pictures. Nick the cool snowboarder Sophia on her solo kamikaze run. These blow up tubes are difficult to steer and whiplash fast, especially for newbie 4-year olds; she biffed some big kid at the bottom of the hill and wasn't keen on going solo anymore. Seamus looked huge with all these clothes bundled ...

Christmas in the second

Image
We enjoyed having the big kids at our place on Christmas eve for the Walker Christmas, so we had to have them back at their dad's on Christmas morning by 8. With our last guests departing the night before around midnight, and many house preparations to be completed, 7 A.M. seemed to roll around quickly. So we hurriedly got the kids up to open some presents at our house, with Tiff walking Cori and Nick and Otis over to Scott's house a little after the deadline. Incidentally, can you see the differences in the photos enclosed below? The washier, whiter pics were taken with our four year old 3 megapixel Sony, and the others were taken with our brand new 6 megapixel Sony. Nick and Cori with their new DVDs, Spiderman and Lemony Snicket's A series of unfortunate events . Sophie and her Barbie in the 12 dancing princesses movie. The joy of discovery. 'Quit asking me to smile so I can open these packages.' Cori and her Doodle bear . Christmas morning, but who's the gr...
