A HOT Visit to Alabama

We surprised Jason by getting into his room and popping out as he arrived home. He knew we were coming but hadn't expected us until later.
Despite the heat we tried some outdoor activities. We found a few of these "little" spiders in the Botanical gardens in Dothan, AL.
Of course, we visited all of our favorite restaurants in the area. Here we are at Larry's BBQ for lunch. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as we remembered but the sweet tea hit the spot.

Jason was able to get us a room at the Naval Base in Panama City. The Base was right on the bay and is the home of the Naval Divers. We walked this beach each morning before going to the Mess Hall for breakfast. On our first visit to this beach I spotted three Jellyfish, one large Blue Crab, fish and several Hermit crabs. Needless to say we didn't swim here.

Back in Dothan, AL we took advantage of a cool (98 degrees) evening and played a little golf. The kids are showing off their Henna tattoos they got at the beach.

Meg's tattoo is a little frog.

The first night we were in town we went to our favorite steak restaurant, The Conestoga, and our old babysitter's sister was seated in the booth behind us. She told us Jessie was back in town so we met up with her for dinner one night. The picture on the left is of Jessie and Garrett in California when Jessie flew out for a week to visit/work for us in 2000, Jessie was 15 then. During our visit Jessie told us of the day the tornado touched down in Enterprise, striking the High School and killing all those students. We then took a tour and saw the destruction and could clearly see the path the twister took through town. We were all amazed at how much damage was done.
