The Turner/Bebee/Walker clan visits the Michigan Capital

On a blustery Friday during midwinter break, we all met at the Michigan Capital for a tour arranged by the Bebee family. We gathered in a small room on the ground floor for a brief safety and historical introduction before taking an elevator to the top floor to begin the tour.

From left: Dawn Schulert, photogenic Seamus, Chris, Tiffani's sister Nicole, and Daren's stepdad Dick and mother Nancy.

Half of Cori, Nick's rear, a grinning Sophie, Shyanne Bebee, and Daren holding Ian.

The highest spot that visitors are allowed to see, allowing for a great view of the muses on the dome (somewhat visible at the top of the photo), and the 4 floors below. Of course, at these heights, a destination like this is a parent's nightmare, thus my boa constrictor grip on Seamus.

Cori contemplating the muses on the dome's walls.

A view to which we were told most visitors don't have access, this photo was taken from the catwalk that floats above the glass-ceilinged House chamber. The glass ceiling in this photo is what allows the House chamber to ambiently lighted, so we were encased in glass, above and below.

Our wonderful and informative guide, Ginger and Gary Walker, and Nancy.

Seamus and his notable Caesarian hairstyle, while Ericka is amused by something on her camera.

Tiff's niece, Ericka Lischkge, with beau Mike Bush, runaway winner of Michigan BOTY (Boyfriend of the Year) and now entered in the national BOTY competition. Can you tell we like him?

Grandma and Poppa Walker with Sophia, Cori, and Nick.

I know that this picture contains a lot of people facing the other direction, but the architectural detail in this hearing room is amazing.

More details, including one of Michigan's mottoes: Tuebor. Harry, do you remember your Latin? The answer is at the bottom of this entry.

After the tour, we retired with the Walkers and Bebees to our house for pizza and Boggle.

Today's trivia answer:
Tuebor: I will defend.
