Fourth of July All-in-One Celebrations

As you can see, we need a little practice using Blogger, but suffer with us on this first attempt.

We had large gathering at Phil and Lynne's house on July 4, 2007. We celebrated the 4th of course - but also Meg's 12th birthday (which is on the 4th), Chris, Laura and Ahni will all become 40 within a few months of the 4th, and Phil and Lynne's 5oth anniversary in August. Needless to say, there were lots of cakes and lots of smiles.

The first pic is Sophia and Seamus on the water slide. Tal was correct in his estimate that these slides have a half life of 30 minutes. Lots of kids got wet.

Below is Meg with an ice cream cake. The cake in front of Bruce (Laura's brother) is a second ice cream cake for all the 40 year olds. Look at the kids clustered around and focused on the cakes.

Here's the anniversary couple - just waiting for the shutters to stop clicking so they can cut their chocolate cake from MacKenzies.
Below is the "Oh Crap, I'm 40" gang. Ahni already was, the other two have a few days to wait at this stage.
This picture of Tiffani is included because she is always behind the camera.
One can only imagine the peace and quiet that followed the departure of the assembled multitude. The Novaks and Turners love their parties. What yeomans duty the hosts provided. There were 35 people present. There may have been a small amount of cake left over.

This is our maiden attempt at blogging - we're awarding ourselves a gold star.

A camera and microphone are installed on all modern Macintoshes, along with an application called PhotoBooth , which allows users to take photos of themselves, along with movies. Thursday after Sophia's surgery, Seamus was upstairs playing Mario Kart on the Wii , and from the back room, curiously, I could hear Sophie discussing the previous day's procedure and figured it was via PhotoBooth. Without anyone's urging she videoblogged the enclosed entry, and I tracked down the video file in her account to upload for everyone's information.

The Patriarch's 70th Birthday @ Arcadia

Stacy, a Grand Ledge graduate, explaining the labeling machine that was acquired from Budweiser. Cruising through the  Twitter  this winter , I note that  Aradia  -- a semi-local brewpub, and of which mom and dad are founding members -- is having what they term a 'beer dinner' on April 28, which also happens to be dad's 70th birthday. Thinking that it's a natural occasion and destination to celebrate dad, the Turner boys scheme to get him there. When we arrived (albeit, a little late, due to unforeseen Michigan Avenue construction in Battle Creek), we were provided with a brief tour of Arcadia's production facility, and given a menu agenda for the evening. Chef Sean described the evening's meal as turning food inside out, changing our perception of what we typically perceive, encounter, and eat.
