Los Fresnos Parade

We went to the Los Fresnos Parade on Saturday, held in conjunction with a 3-day rodeo in that same town. Last year the parade was about 5 minutes long, due to the cold weather. Temp about 30 degrees and strong wind. The organizers advised the schools not to let their kids march, which caused the parade to collapse to almost nothing.

This year it was 85 degrees and mostly sunny. The parade was an hour and half.

I missed getting a photo of the Budweiser Clydesdales - they were early in the parade, and I hadn't thought to get my camera out. We suspect their A-team was in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl.

We have always been impressed by all the beautiful children in the parade. Each local elementary school enters a unit, most of them as a marching/dancing group, and there seems to be at least a dozen schools.

Some of the photos are of parade participants, walking back from the end of the parade.
The beautiful western boots and all the horses are other attractions for us.

Not to mention the two hispanic ladies sitting adjacent to us who, for the entire parade, ate huge dill pickles that they had brought from home. I didn't attempt taking a picture of the pickle eaters.

After the parade, we went down the street to our favorite local restaurant, Julia's, for the best fajitas we have ever found. A fine day indeed !
