Nairobi Update

I'm sure every one has received a flurry of emails from Mom and/or Dad describing what has been happening in Kenya but I thought it would be better to consolidate everything into a huge post for the Turner Family Blog. As of now we've done a load of things including visiting the giraffe center and elephant orphanage among other things.

This is of Garrett at the Giraffe center to the left of him there was a standing area that was higher and we got the opportunity to feed the giraffes that would come close enough. I was the only one who actually got to feed the giraffe because after this one ate out of my hand it decided it was full and left.

Then we went to Coast or Mombasa for
a day. After an eight hour drive where Mom and I got to sleep almost the whole drive we finally arrived and then planned on sun tanning but rain pushed us inside where we fell asleep yet again. This was dinner on that night. The next day we went to a wood-carving place pictured below and then left the following morning.

Afterwards I went to Zambia for a soccer tournament. That was tons of fun and very memorable. We played 8 games during the
Round Robin and tied more often then won. We did lose a couple though. I played goal again. If you want to see the actual results and pictures of the games, the school posted them on http://www.aislusaka.org/issea/isseaindex.html
The boys ended up coming in first and we came in 4th. Our team looked beaten up by the end of the tournament.

Then we went to the elephant orphanage which I don't have any pictures of currently. That was pretty cool but also sad because of the amount of orphaned elephants. They had enough for two pretty decent sized groups, an older group and younger group. I did get to touch one of the elder elephants but their skin wasn't exactly as I had imagined. It felt more like rubbing dried mud that had hair. It was strange. On our way out we stopped to look at a rhino that they had there because it had been orphaned but was also blind so would not be released back into the wild unlike the baby elephants.

The boys have been going on their Boyscout outings but have not been taking pictures as far as I know. They get back from another camping trip today. While they go camping Mom and I have been keeping ourselves occupied and last night we went to see the school's production of Macbeth which was very good considering Shakespearean English isn't always the easiest to understand. The good acting was helpful when attempting to understand what was going on.

More later or maybe not because we will be seeing you soon for Christmas. We are all very excited to come home for Christmas but we're praying it won't be too cold for us. :)

What's with all the soccer bandages? It's not a sport like football or wrestling, for crying out loud!

But, it's nice to see some activity on the blog again, the last post was the U2 concert review. And, Meg, seriously good job, thanks for posting, thanks for the patience and knowledge during the video conference with my class on Friday.
Great photos and you have added more insight into your lives in Kenya ! Thank you.

I posted this many days ago, but for some reason it didn't appear.
